*FUNDED* VPL Liked This Initiative: "Literacy And Math Stations Creation"
Mrs. Crawley is a teacher in Richmond, VA with students who receive free breakfast and lunch. She says, "My first graders are wordsmiths, little walking thesauruses , and vocabulary masters." In order for her to create literacy and math stations, we have given a seed fund to kick start her campaign.
Mrs. Crawley sent us a note:

Thanks to all of you, my students are using engaging and meaningful math and literacy learning materials. My students are excited to use the learning games I created from the materials that I received because of your generous donations.
When the materials were delivered I wanted to open the box right away, but I knew my students would enjoy the unboxing. I asked the students to guess what was inside the big box. "Books!" someone shouted. "No, I think its toys", another student guessed. When I began to pull out the colorful card stock and laminating sheets, the classroom became very quiet. I explained to the class that these materials would allow me to create learning games and activities for math, reading, and writing.
Our favorite literacy station is roll, keep, say, a sight word review game. Roll, keep, say was our most used station and the materials were worn out. This was the first game I remade when I received the card stock and laminating sheets. I used blue card stock for the game board and white card stock for the playing cards. The game looked brand new and I had to explain to my students that it was the original roll, keep, say on beautiful paper.
My class has made significant progress in the area of phonics and they need activities that will help them review phonics skills. I will be creating leveled phonics games and activities that will allow each student to participate in meaningful practice and feel confident.
