With a four hundred-year history of pottery-making, Hasami in Nagasaki Prefecture is Japan's leading region for pottery. While traditional techniques and designs continue to this day, Taku Shinimoto, who owns a popular boutique in Venice, California, lent his vision to these traditions, creating innovative tableware with a modern twist.
